Aloha Means Many Things....
I saw one of those digital highway traffic advisory signs here last week... one of those black signs w/ the words written in orange dots that the DOT can change whenever they want to. The sign was on the outskirts of Honolulu, and it said "Drive with Aloha".
Drive with Aloha. ? I drove on, wondering how I should be driving with "hello" or "goodbye". Shortly thereafter, I forgot about it.
Then 2 nights ago at dinnertime, our 6 year old son, asked us a question right out of the blue! He said, "Do you know all the things that Aloha means?" We said, "No, can you teach us?" And his reply was, "Well, Aloha means hi, bye, to care, to share, and I don't remember what else."
And the light went on! Drive with Aloha means, "Drive with CARE"!! And suddenly it all came clear.

Thomas of Jack Army, thanks for your comment! I was unaware of your pending PCS to Hawaii, so I'm glad you mentioned something. I visited Jill's blog and read more of the news there. That's awesome. We're stationed at Schofield as well... I'm happy to help answer any questions you guys may have about the move... documents, schools for kids... whatever. Don't forget to get Jill and the kids EFMP screenings done in plenty of time. =o)
--------------------------------------
It's so nice to be settling into a new home... we finally have cable again, and it's digital cable to boot! I actually missed the internet much more than TV... but with the new seasons of shows starting soon, I was ready. NFL starts TONIGHT!!! Lost, Survivor, CSI, and Without a Trace all start soon!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Ok, well I'm off to read the blogroll..............
More later.
Aloha

I was so excited reading your blog! love the pictures! I can't wait to get there! We have a 12 yr old, a 4 & 3 yr old. All girls. So you got quarters right away? I was told it was a 6-12 month wait. What's up with that? I keep looking at the various websites and get really anxious to see the rentals starting at $2000 for an itty bitty shack. Yikes! I will just be thrilled when we actually get away from here. It's been absolute hell ... from crazy landlords to the insane New Orleans recruiting battalion I just can't leave this place soon enough! Really looking forward to meeting you. Thanks for checking out my pathetic blog. It's not as great as Jack's.. somebody's got to watch the kids! =0 I just feel like I never have anything great to say...maybe when I get over there and jack goes back to work (finally) and I get my computer back...I'll update my blog more often. But for now I'll just leave hysterically long comments on yours... sheesh maybe I should have emailed you. :) oops! See you soon!

The most memorable time at a beach I ever had was at Waiamea Bay, Oahu, Hawaii. Ever consider going there?
